1. BE STRONG AND BE COURAGEOUS
A leader needs to have a strong mind because the mind of the leader will tell the followers whether to follow or to withdraw and his encouragement will strengthen them to achieve their aims. A strong and courageous mind is in-built which is personal to an individual and it’s a means to strengthen and the absence of it does weaken a man. God told Joshua to be strong and encourage himself because there was no time to build up his armies, the trained ones were to be encouraged and strengthened to cross the Jordan and enter the land and engage in war with the strong people of the land of Cannan. This charge is very necessary to all leaders, for none is called without purpose, and to achieve the purpose one needs to go with a strong mind. We are not given the spirit of fear to be afraid, but the spirit of sound mind, the assignment given to Joshua is to acquire and share the land with the people. Also, we have assignments given to us and fulfillment is all about doing it to the drawing line. Every Pastor, Elder, church officer, member, father, mother, and secular leader has been appointed everywhere we are, though it may be difficult, we may be facing problems because there is no success; the only way out is to be strong and courageous. But the source of every success is in the words of God, this secret was not hidden from Joshua; he was commanded to keep the words of God. Likewise, the word of God is the Christian manual that has solutions to all problems, it is so complex that it has many hidden treasures, until we read and meditate on the virtue we may not be able to discover. God therefore told Joshua the secret of his success which is keeping the Book of Law. And he must be identified with the word; he should tie it to his neck, and meditate on it day and night; to prosper his way. Moses spoke with God mouth to mouth but Joshua had no opportunity to hear directly from God, but in the word of God he will find solutions to all problems ahead. The most reliable and evergreen prophecy is in the Bible and any prophecy against that is not from God. Study to show yourself approved was the order from Paul to his son Timothy, but the word of God has been difficult to many Christian leaders and those reading it are reading to preach their sermon not to meditate to hear from God or to edify themselves, many Christians are busy than studying and meditating the words of God and there is no other manual that can meet up every need or settle every situation of life like the scriptures. Therefore, return to the words of God you will be strengthened and encouraged.
2. THE DAY OF THE LORD
A solemn day of the Lord is coming that every secret will be exposed to all, the good and bad will be clearly shown, and there shall be a separation of light and darkness. The day of the Lord is a day that all Christians are waiting for because it’s a day of their consolation, but some believers will not be comfortable on that day. The prophet asked what would the people do on the day of the Lord. Because it is a fearful day, the day of visitation, the day of recompense, the day that they will know that the prophets are not fools, and the men of God are not mad, they will know the difference between true and false prophets, but there will be no chance to repent or to amend ways. The day that has no second edition nor delay, it will be sad if you and I are found in such a position of fear on the day of the Lord, let us make amendments to renew our faith in His word and follow His instructions now that we may not regret on the day of the Lord.
3. BLESSED IS THE COMING KING
The people shouted for joy because Jesus was entering triumphantly Jerusalem because they had been waiting for a day that they would have a savior. Some placed their clothes while some cut the branches of the trees to celebrate His Coming to the extent that His enemies were confounded they tried to stop the crowd but to no avail, but they shouted and praised God. This is an unplanned celebration and He cut them unaware, so will His second coming also be without notice than what we have been saying. Many were met doing business in the temple, likewise, Jesus shall meet some doing business in the church when He comes, many are in the church for only social aspects where are you going to be? Jesus rebuked all the atrocities in the temple and cleansed it, let us search our mind and clean it; for Christ will come without notice. Lord, count us worthy to go with you when you come to collect the saints in Jesus’ name.
