9ice the singer

9ice, whose real name is Alexander Abolore Adegbola Akande, is a renowned Nigerian musician, songwriter, and dancer. Born on January 17, 1980 in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, he grew up in the Shomolu Bariga suburbs of Lagos.

9ice comes from a polygamous family of five wives and nine children. From a young age, he had a passion for music and his parents recognized his singing talent, allowing him to pursue a career in music.

9ice’s professional music career began in 2000 when he released his first solo single “Little Money”. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that he gained widespread popularity with the release of his hit song “Gongo Aso”. The song’s success led to 9ice performing at the Nelson Mandela 90th Birthday Tribute concert in London in 2008.

9ice’s unique style of blending Yoruba language with his music has been a key part of his success. He is known for his proverbial lyrics and powerful delivery. Over the course of his career, 9ice has released over 12 albums, including popular titles like “Certificate”, “Gongo Aso”, “Tradition”, and his most recent “Tip of the Iceberg” series.

In addition to his music, 9ice has also been involved in various philanthropic efforts. He has served as a UN Youth Ambassador, Lagos State Environmental Ambassador, and ambassador for the 46664 Nelson Mandela Charity Organization and the Global Public Health Ambassador to Society for Family Health.

Despite some personal and professional challenges over the years, 9ice remains one of the most influential and respected artists in the Nigerian music industry. His contributions to the growth of Afrobeats and his ability to connect with audiences through his Yoruba-infused music have cemented his legacy as a true Nigerian music icon.
