“Yes!”I cried out angrily.

“How could you say I cheated on my beloved husband, I cheated on Obim for what? I killed Obim for what?don’t you have limitations for your words, do you just open your mouth and talk like you don’t have any sense!”

She was very provoked by that statement but I don’t care anymore.

“Charlie take this fool out of this compound!”

“I am not going anywhere,because this is my husband’s house and I don’t have anywhere in Lagos to stay in my condition”I clarified as a warning, I really don’t know where to go from here.

“You will lose your job soon,I told you something to do and you’re hesitating”.

She barked at Charles.

Who did as instructed immediately. Charles came to me after they went inside the house.

“Please madam,no vex. Abeg I don’t lose my job,please”.

I was standing there,my fists clenched tightly into a fight. I wanted a fight but where do I start from now ,I don’t even have anywhere to go to.

****AUTHORESS’S POV***

Mama Ken and Chioma was at the kitchen supervising Precious cooking and discussing when Ada called them and inform them she was able to drive Anna away.

“Ada Nna ya!(her father’s daughter) I know I can trust you”.

“Mama I told you na, she come dey do strong head for me, that girl get mind oo, I was surprise she was that hard to deal with, but finally she is out of the house”.

She replied.

Chioma gestured at her motor inlaw asking about about the call.

“Na my daughter Ada. She dey talk about that girl….emmm wetin be her name again?”

Mama Ken said.

“Annabel”.

Chioma and Precious chorused.

“Yes Annabel, she say she don comot for house”.

Chioma smiled broadly and rubbed her stomach.

“So she is not returning again, she is pregnant right? she might return after birth?”she replied.

“Return where? Since you day the ultrasound shows Chioma baby to be a son, wetin we need that one to do? Abeg make she carry them Dey go, imagine bewitching my brother to the extend he will everything to her, I been dey doubt this witch allegations but after Dele revealed his will, I believe that girl is not ordinary!”

Ada said with finality.

“You see, thank goodness you have seen it yourself, and pray oo, that girl is very dangerous so she won’t attack you spiritually”.

Her mother suggested.

“She dey craze, alright mama take care, greet our wife for me”.

“She is here, want to talk to her?”

The mother said and glanced at Chioma who forced a smile.

“No not today, just great her for me”.

Ada replied.

“Very well take care of yourself and my grandchildren ooo”.

The phone call ended.

Chioma didn’t say anything, all she had in mind was how she will go to Lagos and claim the house. Rewriting the will, the house was willed to Ada but it was not accepted by Chioma even though she told them she was okay with it, she had dreamt about living in the city than this boring village.

 The other properties to her son, Ken’s first child now that’s the big issue. Ken is never responsible for her pregnancy. DNA won’t be a problem because she was able to convince them she is carrying his child, but what if he looks nothing like Ken.

She had to do something about changing the ownership, with the help of her lover Dele she thinks it’s possible.

“Precious put firewood there! Why allow the fire to die out!”

Her mother in-law’s voice interrupted her thoughts.

****10 YEARS LATER***

***ANNA’S POV***

So basically I left my husband’s house and went to stay in one of the nearest churches there. With time the priest and the members were kind enough to look into my condition and found me a place to stay.

I delivered my babies safely a boy and a girl . According to Oluchi, Chioma gave birth to a baby boy there months before me. I decided that I won’t return to the village but focus on my kids.

I got a job as a housekeeper too in the neighborhood there I was able to feed my children and afford our house rent.

Sadly two years of age my son Junior developed a bad kidney infection. It was a rare case and terminal. All my hardwork went to its treatments… the little drugs we could afford but it wasn’t enough, the church helped too.

I had prayed , cried every night all this past years and even got tired of praying.

The doctor pointed out about me taking a substance during pregnancy. All I could think of was the oath taking, the liquid I was asked to drink the man stated it wasn’t good for the baby’s health.

I lived my life in regrets, slept in church praying for my son’s healing, he is suffering so much at his age.

One of the days I slept over at the church, I had my son  in my arms, my daughter was sleeping by my side. I was kneeling at the alter, pouring my heart out to God almighty, the giver of children to heal my son.

I don’t want to lose my son. I can’t lose Kendo Junior.

A new member of the church visited the priest that morning and saw me. He told the priest he would like to help the woman and her children.

God answers prayers indeed.

The next day I sent out to visit this man, this Good Samaritan who choose to save me from my misery.

I looked at the house number carefully so I will know if it’s the one the priest  gave to me. Thankfully it’s the same, wiped my sweaty face on my wrapper and walked to the giant black gate.

I knocked twice then heard a hoarse voice thundered from inside the compound.

“Who be that?”

The voice was rough and strict, I needed no one to confirm that to be a security guard. I heard his footsteps approaching to open the gate. I tried and put a friendly smile and waited patiently for him to open the gate.

 The lock was released and he came out of the gate,glanced and studied me from head to toe with a displeased eye.

“Good afternoon sir”.

I knelt down in greeting.

“Yes, can I help you?”

He questioned supporting his hand on the gate and the other on the waist.

I stood up and spoke softly.

“Please Baba, I wish to see Brother Jude is he around?”

“Which one is brother Jude?”

“He gave me this card”.

I showed him.

He peeked at it, stretching his neck without making any effort to be interested in whatever I was showing him.

“You mean Oga Jude?”

“Yes, I am his church member that’s why I refer to him as brother Jude, please is he around?”

He glanced at me from head to toe again, I had to check myself up to confirm I wasn’t stained with poop.

“Madam are you one of those beggars, you have to wait for your turn”.

“I..I actually.. you are mistaken…”

“Wait, here first”he interrupted with a hand raised at me.

“Oga went out, he is not around, now you can leave, have a nice day”.

He said and turned to the gate.

“Sorry but please do you know when he will be back? So I can….”

He interrupted me.

“Madam stand there”, he pointed at the  if you want to wit for him, stand by and wait! Don’t disturb my life with your wahala”.

“I am sorry if I provoked you,just that my sick kids are alone at home waiting for me, I…”

“Madam,stand there and wait! Obey simple instructions you have listening ears not decorative ones!”he snapped and went into the house with a loud hiss.

I sighed and  did as he said. I went and stood by the gate until my leg became so sore and numb.

I looked in the opposite direction and saw a bench at the front of the building. I decided to go and beg for permission to sit there but then a car drove up to stop at brother Jude’s gate.

I could recognize the car as one of brother Jude’s.

He came down from the car and removed his black shades in surprise to see me there.

“Sister Anna..”,

I stood with a smile and walked up to him.

“What are you doing outside? Is the gateman not inside?”

He asked in a hoarse voice.

I was close enough now,I knelt in greeting. He placed a hand on my shoulder in a decent hug and asked me to stand.

“Why didn’t you tell  the gateman to open the gate for you?”

He seem offended on my behalf.

I did not want any trouble so I said nothing about the gatemen telling me to stay outside,I just smiled and apologized for not doing as he said.
