1. CONDITIONAL BLESSING

This world is of two sides; which means the behavior of someone will determine the face of the coin; good or bad, joy or sadness, gain or loss, blessing or curse. Though people want a positive side of life it is as they lay their bed so shall they sleep on it. A Philosopher says that God created the world with principles and sits afar off watching, which means those principles are the judge of the actions of every man. Moses gradually rounded up his valedictory speech by telling them both sides of the coin. According to him, blessing has a condition which is listening diligently and doing perfectly the words of God. But disobedience attracts the curse from God which includes sickness, disasters, war, famine, and more. Moses led them to a maturity stage in which they can now make their choices, whether blessings or curses. To this point, it means we should always examine ourselves when we see the negative aspects of life, though not all are results of our behaviors, for some can be a test of faith, but we should not conclude that it is a test without examining ourselves when the negativity comes our way. But surely, God wants us to follow the good path because His thoughts towards us are thought of peace. The fact remains that all conditions given in Mosaic Law are very difficult for the people to abide with flawlessly, they want a short-cut; many want to receive without giving, some want to harvest without planting, the wicked want to be rewarded with goodness, the lazy wants to be rich, though they may find their ways God’s judgment will come upon them. Blessings here in the passage attract louder amen by all but we need to know that all the blessings are attached with conditions and I pray that the grace of God will grant us the ability to meet up with the conditions that we shall be obedient to all God’s terms and conditions in Jesus name.

2. PREPARE TO MEET YOUR GOD

It is a joy for the servant doing his work properly who meets his master’s standard, he will not be afraid whether the master comes in the midnight. But the lazy, wicked, and unrighteous servant, will not like the sudden appearance of their master as he will like to have prior notice from his master so as to cover up and put things rightly. Amos told the people to prepare to meet with their God. Jesus said about the time of His coming that He did not know but only His Father knows as He will come without notice, there shall be no time to tidy up, no time to amend or correct any error, no waste of time, the best is to prepare to meet with your God. He may come to you in the form of sudden death, or deadly sickness, but nobody knows the type of death one shall experience, and nobody knows the place and time of his/ her death, the only solution is to prepare daily to meet with your God. Let us live our life as if there will be no tomorrow by putting our house in order on a daily basis, so that He may meet us watching for His coming.

3.  REJECTION BY THE JEWS

I am always happy to study how the Jews rejected salvation for it quickens the Gentile Salvation. The parable of the Banquet by Jesus shows how God fastened His plan of salvation to the Gentiles. His plan formally was to redeem the Israelites back to Himself and send them out to preach the love of Christ to the world but they gave excuses and failed to come, and the Lord sent the disciples to the cities and streets to bring anyone found to come to the banquet. That’s how salvation came quickly to the general people that the Israelites regarded as gentiles, no more restrictions, no more customs and traditions and He finalized it on the Cross as the veil of the Temple torn to pieces, the order of the temple became one cult, the gentiles are entitled to go to the presence of God with the name of Jesus not with circumcision, Levitical order of sacrifice or by the Mosaic laws, but by the grace through the blood of Jesus Christ; the salvation becomes free for all today. The stone that was rejected by the builders now becomes the Chief Cornerstone, today the gospel rejected is being taken back to the Jews by the so-called gentiles of then and many of them are now embracing the gospel. We have both become joint heirs of the Lord Jesus. My prayer is that our salvation shall not get lost from us in Jesus’ name. Are you redeemed, please keep your salvation without levity, Christ shall come when we are least expected; may He meet us spotless and blameless in Jesus’ name.
