IT was not until 1902 that President Theodore Roosevelt, during the massive renovation of the White House, added electric lights to the White House.

AMERICAN independence was 1776, electricity debut in America 1882, and White House got electric lights 126 years after.

Now compare with Nigeria that got electricity in 1896, 64 years before independence and in 1960 – the official residences of Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa and President Nnamdi Azikiwe all had electric lights.

Ironically, 126 years after electricity debut in Nigeria, Nigeria is lagging in delivering the basic infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has more engineers per country than any other African country.

If one offers an excuse for this, they must be apologists and sympathizers – they must be excused.
