Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has signed a new budget of N955 billion for the year 2025, which is slightly bigger than last year’s budget.
This budget, called the “Budget of Consolidation and Expansion,” plans to spend N655 billion on big projects like building things, and N300 billion on regular expenses like salaries and office costs.
The signing happened at the State Executive Council Chambers in the Government House, Uyo, with important people like the State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon (Elder) Udeme Otong, and other key officials present.
This budget is designed to help the state grow by spending a lot of money on road building and other big projects.
It also plans to make more money for the state through different ways, including a new hotel in Abuja and improving how much money the state makes on its own, without relying too much on oil money.
The day-to-day running costs are set at N300 billion, which includes money for paying workers and other office-related expenses.
The bigger part of the N655 billion is set aside for major projects, and this money will come from different sources, including some saved up from last year, loans, grants, and other special funds.
The approval of this budget was quick thanks to good teamwork between the government and the assembly. They discussed and agreed on the details efficiently, which Governor Eno praised.
