A 39-year-old Ottawa man faces several fraud charges in connection with what police call a “fraudulent investment scam,” that allegedly defrauded friends and acquaintances of more than $240,000.

In a release, police said Timothy Laflamme ran the alleged scam between December 2023 and September 2024.

Police said Laflamme allegedly approached victims and offered them an opportunity to invest with a company that he described as a real estate platform, presenting himself as a qualified investor.

Laflamme then allegedly used the money collected to cover personal expenses and investments in cryptocurrency, police said.
