As political activities gradually build up ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, a youth group, the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, has declared its unwavering support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, passing a vote of confidence in his leadership and governance.
At an event held on Thursday in Ward 3, Ijebu Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area of the state, the group pledged loyalty to the governor and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). During the event, the group also inaugurated a committee tasked with a door-to-door campaign to mobilise support for Adeleke.
Convener of the group and aspirant for the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Pelumi Olajengbesi, lauded Adeleke’s performance in office, highlighting the administration’s achievements despite limited resources and political challenges.
“Together, we reaffirm our strong support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, whose exceptional and excellent performance continue to transform Osun State for the better,” Olajengbesi said while addressing more than 1,000 individuals involved in community mobilisation.
He added: “The Imole Spirit is truly alive at the grassroots. As young people, we must take charge of our political future by actively participating in the political process. The time is now, let’s shape the future we want.”
Osun is among eight Nigerian states where governorship elections are held off-cycle due to previous litigations and court rulings. The others include Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Anambra, Imo, Kogi, and Ondo.
