Education advocate Alex Onyia has caused considerable surprise by revealing the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results of a previously high-achieving student.
The results indicated that this student, identified as Michael Inemisit Uduak, scored significantly lower than anticipated, achieving only 148 this year.
The detailed scores included 35 in Use of English, 41 in Physics, 35 in Biology, and 37 in Chemistry.
The public was particularly struck by the dramatic difference between this year’s performance and Uduak’s earlier results, which were 281 in 2023 and an impressive 311 in 2024, rendering this year’s performance quite perplexing.
Onyia has raised concerns regarding the validity of the score and has urged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to ensure transparency.
“Last two years she scored 281 in JAMB, last year she scored 311, and this year she is scoring 148. This is impossible,”
“JAMB needs to let these students see their mark sheet to review their results themselves.”
