The internet is massive, but most of our daily browsing ends up on just a few familiar websites. These platforms dominate global attention, racking up billions of visits every month.
Every day, billions of people across the globe open their browsers and tap into a digital world that’s become second nature. But where exactly do they go? Which websites are pulling in the most traffic month after month?
According to fresh data from SEMrush via Datareportal, the biggest names on the internet are still holding strong, though new players are making fast climbs up the ladder.
Google – 136 billion monthly visits
YouTube – 72.8 billion visits
Facebook – 12.7 billion visits
Wikipedia – 6.9 billion visits
Instagram – 6.8 billion visits
Reddit – 6.0 billion visits
Pornhub – 5.3 billion visits
Bing – 5.2 billion visits
ChatGPT – 4.8 billion visits
X (formerly Twitter) – 4.3 billion visits
These numbers reflect total monthly visits, not just unique users. For example, Google alone is visited by over 6 billion unique users monthly, more than any other site on Earth.
YouTube, which is owned by Google’s parent company Alphabet, also commands massive attention, with users spending nearly 25 minutes per visit on average.
Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta remain deeply embedded in people’s online habits.
Facebook sees over 12 billion visits a month, while Instagram isn’t far behind with nearly 7 billion. Wikipedia continues to be the world’s go-to source for quick information, pulling in almost 7 billion visits without the need for flashy algorithms or content trends.
Reddit, with its active communities and niche discussions, ranks sixth, followed by adult site Pornhub, Microsoft’s Bing, and ChatGPT, now the most visited AI platform globally. With 4.8 billion visits and over 400 million weekly users, ChatGPT has quickly climbed the ranks since its public launch, becoming a daily tool for many.
Rounding out the top 10 is X (formerly Twitter), which continues to draw strong traffic despite ongoing controversies and major changes under Elon Musk.
While big tech companies still dominate, with Alphabet and Meta accounting for four of the top ten spots, the presence of AI tools and community-driven platforms like Reddit shows how people’s browsing habits are gradually diversifying. That said, Google’s lead is so wide that it has more visits than the next nine sites combined.
These figures remind us just how concentrated our online activity is and how a handful of platforms continue to shape much of what we read, watch, and search for every day.
