How a Car Crashed Into the Crowd at Liverpool’s Victory Parade

What started as a day of celebration in Liverpool quickly turned into a moment of fear when a car drove into a crowd during the city’s Premier League victory parade on Monday.

The incident happened just after 6:00 pm, as thousands of fans filled the streets to cheer for Liverpool Football Club and their title win. According to Merseyside Police, a car collided with several pedestrians during the parade.

“The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained,” the police said in a statement. Officers quickly arrived and surrounded the vehicle.

An AFP journalist reported seeing at least four people being taken away on stretchers. Videos on social media showed a dark-coloured car swerving into the packed crowd just as the celebration was winding down.

Fans had gathered to watch the players on an open-top bus showing off the Premier League trophy.

After the crash, police officers and members of the public rushed to help the injured. Emergency services, including a fire engine, came to the scene and cordons were set up to keep people safe.

The North West Ambulance Service said they were working closely with police and fire crews to manage the situation. “Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible,” they said in a statement.

The reason behind the crash is still unknown. Police are investigating and have asked anyone who saw the incident or has video footage to come forward.
