Beauty editors are obsessed with this lightweight sunscreen that gives glowing, even skin

It’s widely known in the skincare world that one of the top anti-ageing tips is to apply high factor sunscreen on your face daily. However, not all SPFs are a joy to use – many can feel oily, leave a white cast or irritate sensitive skin. But there’s a new one on shelves that’s causing quite a stir among beauty experts for its impeccable feel and finish.

Australian sun care brand Ultra Violette is already renowned for its stellar SPFs, but its latest release might just take the crown. Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen, as the name suggests, is a high factor mineral facial sun cream (ideal for those with sensitive skin or eyes) that stands out for its incredible texture and appearance on the skin.

Our beauty team has been testing it and – spoiler alert – it lives up to the buzz. Here’s why…

I don’t have particularly sensitive skin when it comes to sunscreen, so I typically opt for chemical ones without any problems. However, I do experience occasional breakouts, so I’m always on the hunt for face SPFs that won’t clog pores or leave my skin feeling oily, reports the Mirror. This new Ultra Violette offering, priced at £38, ticks all the boxes, and it’s no wonder everyone’s raving about it.

The product has a fairly watery consistency that applies smoothly; it feels like you’re not wearing anything on your skin, yet your complexion appears naturally enhanced: hydrated, plumped and smoothed. It also layers perfectly with all my other skincare and make-up – no pilling or greasiness. It may seem tinted when you first squeeze it out, but once applied, it completely disappears.

Once it’s on, I’m honestly amazed at how good it makes my skin look without any make-up. It leaves it looking radiant and healthy, evening out minor imperfections. Even though it’s not pigmented, it does have some sort of skin-perfecting magic in it, and it’s probably the only skincare product I’ve ever tried that leaves me confident enough about my skin to skip foundation or other make-up base – something that never happens.

It doesn’t stay looking quite so flawess all day long, but then again, you are supposed to reapply your SPF every few hours (a super-fine sunscreen face mist like this one is the perfect solution if you wear make-up over the top).

The only shoppers who might not totally love this are those with very oily skin, or who prefer a matte skin finish. Otherwise, I can’t recommend it enough; it’s one of the best face SPFs I’ve ever tried.

Our head of shopping Zoe is also thoroughly impressed with this sunscreen. In her review of the latest mineral sunscreens, she raves, “I really, really like this, which isn’t something I say lightly about an SPF. It’s the perfect balance of hydration and blur, giving my skin a really natural, glowy finish. I was honestly expecting it to feel heavy or chalky, but it’s the complete opposite – it’s so lightweight that I forget I even have it on. It melts right in, no weird white cast, just smooth, healthy-looking skin.”

Zoe is also a fan of Lancaster Sun Beauty Sensitive Skin Mineral Face Cream SPF50, now on sale for £21.60, down from £27. If you’re open to chemical sunscreens, I think Garnier Ambre Solaire offers excellent high-street options, such as Ultra-Light Sensitive Sun Protection Face Fluid SPF50+, currently £8.71, and Vitamin C Daily UV Fluid SPF50+ Invisible, now £8.66 – both are top-notch choices.
