I am honoured to once again be the Liberal candidate for Ottawa South, a diverse community that works hard, sticks together and leaves no one behind. I hope to be able to earn the trust of residents to continue to serve them, focusing on health care, dental care, pharmacare, affordable housing, infrastructure, climate change, reconciliation, children and seniors. I believe the Liberal Party of Canada offers a progressive approach to this community’s future.

At the local level, my priority remains serving the residents of Ottawa South and ensuring investment in our community. My office has helped many families with Government of Canada programs and services; it has been a real privilege to be of assistance.

I have been working hard to secure federal investments here in Ottawa South and hope to continue these efforts if I have the honour of being re-elected.

Every Canadian deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. The Government of Canada has a critical role to play to support municipalities and other partners to get more housing built faster. Last year, we invested more than $176.3 million in the City of Ottawa through the Housing Accelerator Fund to provide additional capacity to fast-track the development of safe and affordable housing to meet the needs of our rapidly growing district. If re-elected, I will keep encouraging more investments in local affordable housing.

It remains a priority for me to work on behalf of our community to improve our infrastructure. I was pleased to support an investment of $11 million under the National Trade Corridors Fund. This investment will be used to build a new cargo facility for Canadian North, the Inuit-owned airline. This warehouse will be located on the grounds of Ottawa International Airport and will double the capacity for Canadian North in Ottawa. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for investments in the Ottawa International Airport as it is truly an economic engine for our region.

I will continue to advocate for investments in health care, especially for children and seniors. Last year, I was honoured to announce an investment of $1 million from the Low Carbon Economy Fund to support the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario’s (CHEO) Deep Energy Retrofit Program. This will satisfy the hospital’s heating requirements and recover and reuse heat waste, improving efficiency of the hospital’s systems and reducing emissions.
