The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup gets underway this weekend in the United States. Thirty-two teams – including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea will converge on America for this revamped, four-week competition.
Previously a seven-team event, the new-look Club World Cup takes place every four years and features champions from all six FIFA confederations. Here is everything you need to know about the dates, participating clubs and full fixture list.
When will the Club World Cup take place?
The tournament begins in the early hours of Sunday, 15 June, with the final scheduled for Sunday, 13 July 2025. The opening match, Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, versus Egypt’s Al Ahly, kicks off at 1 am West African Time (WAT) at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. One month later, the decider will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Which teams are participating?
Thirty-two clubs have qualified. Europe’s UEFA supplies twelve sides, among them Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. South America’s CONMEBOL is represented by six teams, including Palmeiras, Flamengo and River Plate.
North America’s Concacaf contributes five participants, the hosts Inter Miami, plus LA FC, Pachuca, Monterrey and Seattle Sounders. Asia’s AFC qualifiers are Al Hilal, Urawa Red Diamonds, Ulsan Hyundai and Al Ain. From Africa, CAF’s four entrants are Al Ahly, Wydad AC, Mamelodi Sundowns and Espérance de Tunis. Auckland City is the sole representative of Oceania’s OFC.
