Alhaji Aminu Dantata Laid to Rest in Madinah

Renowned Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has been laid to rest at the historic Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, following his passing on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The respected patriarch was buried on Tuesday evening after Jana’iza (funeral) prayers held at the Prophet’s Mosque, following the Maghrib prayer.

Body Arrives in Madinah for Burial

According to a statement by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dantata’s remains arrived in Madinah early Tuesday, accompanied by close family members. These included his son, Alhaji Tajudeen Dantata, and nephew, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man.

A high-level Nigerian government delegation also attended the burial. The group was led by Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and included:

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN)

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata

Hassan Abdullahi, Director of Internal Security, Office of the NSA (representing the National Security Adviser)

Prominent Religious Leaders & Dignitaries Present

The burial ceremony was graced by top Islamic scholars, including:

Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar

Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa

Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, Imam of Dantata Mosque, Abuja

Diplomatic officials from the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Ibrahim Moddibbo, also played a key role in coordinating the funeral rites.

Former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State

A Final Goodbye to a Business Icon

Business tycoon Aliko Dangote led the family in offering final tributes, alongside other relatives and well-wishers. The funeral also witnessed the presence of traditional rulers, including Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, and deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, who both came to pay their last respects.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, one of Nigeria’s most influential businessmen and patriarch of the famous Dantata family, leaves behind a legacy of entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and faith.
