Episode 3

The next day, after her husband had gone to the farm, she removed the mattress from their bed and leaned it on the wall. When she did that, she saw something moved. She couldn’t tell what it was. So, she turned on the light and the scream that left her mouth could be heard kilometres away.

Comfortably curled under her bed, was a large python. She shouted and called her neighbours who came and dragged it out from under the bed and outside the house. One neighbour threw a fisherman’s net over it in order to prevent it from escaping. The whole neighbourhood gathered in front of the lady’s house. Everyone was wondering how such a big snake could have managed to enter someone’s house undetected. What was it even doing there in the first place?

The crowd decided that the snake was mysterious, and therefore, should be killed. As they went for the kill, one man stopped them.

“We shouldn’t kill this snake just yet.” He told everyone.

“Why?” The angry and agitated crowd asked.

“This woman’s husband is a twin. I have heard many stories associating twins with snakes. Please, let us wait until he comes back before we do anything. If we kill the snake now, and it happens to be his totem, he will die.”

“So, are you saying that we should wait till evening? We can’t keep this evil snake till evening.” One rugged young man shouted, and most people agreed.

“Did your husband go to the farm with his phone?” One woman asked the lady.

“Yes, Mam.”

“Okay, call him to come back home immediately.”

When the husband was called to come back home, he abandoned what he was doing and hurried home, for the call was not made by his wife. He was afraid that something might have happened to his wife. As he approached his home, he saw a large crowd gathered in front of his house and his heart sank, TBC
