Amazon slashes £55 off ‘easy to use’ Garmin GPS for cyclists and e-bikes as it extends tech sale

If you’re looking to make the most of the summer weather by getting outdoors, cycling is a brilliant way to stay fit and enjoy some fresh air. Whether you’re a fan of traditional bicycles or have upgraded to an electric bike for that extra push, it’s a fantastic alternative to being stuck in a car.

However, navigating on two wheels can be a bit more challenging than four, which is why a GPS system is essential for those planning longer routes. The Garmin Edge Explore 2 has been specifically designed to attach to the front of your bike, providing ride type-specific maps and even e-bike routing.

Usually retailing at a hefty £249.99, Amazon has extended its tech week sale, allowing you to grab this gadget for just £192.31. That’s a saving of over £57 due to a 23% price reduction.

One of the advantages of using a dedicated cycling GPS like the Garmin Edge Explore 2 is its careful mapping to provide the best cycle routes. It alerts you to high traffic roads you might want to steer clear of and offers ride type-specific maps featuring popular roads and trails with other cyclists, based on bike riding rather than driving or walking.

If you own an E-bike, the Garmin GPS can be connected to it, providing navigation guidance, as well as alerts for battery levels, range, and assist levels. Additionally, it features a large three-inch display that remains visible in direct sunlight and can be used with gloves on, making it convenient for on-the-go use.

For those looking to elevate their performance, the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt 3 GPS Cycling Computer, priced at £299.99, offers numerous features designed to enhance speed, personal bests, and training schedules. Its compact and lightweight design also improves aerodynamics for a better ride.

A more budget-friendly option is the GPSPORT BSC300T Bike Computer GPS, available for £129.99, reports the Mirror.

However, Amazon shoppers have been praising the Garmin Edge Explore 2, with one reviewer stating: “Really pleased with this Garmin, does everything I was looking for. Easy to use and quick to set up.”

Another reviewer agreed: “Bought mainly for navigation and it doesn’t disappoint. Very easy to set up and use. I can even control my Ribble e-bike from it which is a bonus. As good as it gets at that price point.”

One reviewer found it less user-friendly, writing: “I have this device and I find it very difficult to navigate and the small screen makes it difficult to view the map, and it is also very slow to search for addresses or connect to satellites. This device is made of plastic and possibly fragile.”

Yet some users are totally on board, sharing: “Used it to navigate across the country for a 150 mile ride, the big screen makes it very easy to see where you’re going and the battery lasts forever (cycled for 13 hours and it went from 98% to 40% without battery saving mode).”
