Dozens of irate youths in Kano State have been captured in a viral video pulling down and destroying a massive 2027 campaign billboard bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on a major street in the ancient city, shows visibly angry young men, mostly in their 20s, tearing down the structure with sticks and bare hands, as others cheered and filmed with mobile phones.

This signalled early campaign posturing for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The video, which has gone viral on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), surfaced barely 24 hours after Tinubu’s visit to Benue State, where he paid a condolence visit over the recent massacre of residents by gunmen suspected to be herders.
The president is currently in Kaduna State at the invitation of Governor Uba Sani, where he is expected to participate in state events and meet political stakeholders.
The Kano incident is the latest in a growing wave of public anger and frustration over insecurity, rising cost of living, and what many young Nigerians describe as failed promises by the ruling APC government.
Human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, had also accused President Bola Tinubu of turning a condolence visit to Benue State into a political campaign event, despite the recent killing of over 200 Nigerians in the area.
Farotimi made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, where he condemned the president’s conduct and described the government’s response to the massacre as complicit and insensitive.
“The critical thing is that the government needs to come clean and be honest about the fact that it is complicating the senseless genocide that is going on in Nigeria,” he said.
He said it was appalling that the president could visit a grieving state and deliver what appeared to be a campaign speech, instead of addressing the tragedy with seriousness and empathy.
“How can it be that we have a government, and the primary duty of any government, wherever, whatever kind of government it might be, whether it is a democratic one-party state, ten-party state, it does not matter, whether it is even a dictatorship, the primary reason a state exists is to protect the lives and properties of the citizens,” he said.
Farotimi lamented the growing desensitisation of Nigerians to violence, adding that the president’s rhetoric during the visit was disrespectful to the victims and their families.
He said, “And we’ve almost lost our capacity to be shocked. Two hundred human beings were murdered, and the president went to Benue State, and he was talking almost as if he was prepping for a campaign rally.”
“Let the state begin to do what it should to protect the lives and properties, and stop being complicit. The complicity of this government, the APC, is established beyond argument and it should just really repent and begin to protect Nigerian lives,” he said.
