A man believed to be a Boko Haram suicide bomber attacked a busy fish market in Konduga Local Government Area on Friday night. He dressed like a regular shopper and moved among the crowd before setting off a bomb that killed at least ten people and injured seven others, according to security officials.
The blast happened during one of the market’s busiest hours. People ran in fear as smoke and dust filled the air. Witnesses said the scene was full of confusion, with injured people lying on the ground, tables turned over, and many shouting for help or trying to hide.
Soldiers and emergency workers arrived at the market quickly. Troops blocked off the area to stop any more attacks, and medics took the wounded to a nearby hospital. The army said the bomber died immediately in the explosion.
The area has been sealed off to allow investigators to collect evidence and keep people safe. Local leaders are requesting stronger security, increased patrols, and enhanced checks at public events. Communities in Borno State continue to face threats, as innocent civilians are often targeted in these kinds of attacks.
