Fast-rising Nigerian singer Brown Joel has addressed public misconceptions about his relationship with the artists behind the viral hit Ogechi, clarifying that they are not a music group.
In a recent video shared on social media, Brown Joel made it clear that while he and his collaborators are friends, they remain independent artists with no formal agreement binding them as a crew.
“We’re not a group. We’re friends and individual artists. There’s no contract binding us as a crew,” he stated.
The singer also took a subtle swipe at the obsession with streaming numbers in today’s music scene, pointing out the importance of real fan engagement over digital metrics. “When you get to a concert, real humans will sing for you. Not digital numbers,” he added.
Brown Joel emphasized that he and his collaborators operate as independent acts, each pursuing their individual careers despite the success of their joint track, Ogechi.
