Cher Lloyd’s White Lotus-inspired ‘Italian bob’ hair transformation makes her look like a new woman

The bob haircut is the style to sport in Summer 2025. From shoulder-grazing ‘lobs’ to shorter micro-bobs, this stylish cut is here to stay. One celeb who’s embracing the trend is none other than Cher Lloyd. You might recall Cher from her stint on The X Factor, particularly her memorable Turn My Swag On audition. But if you haven’t kept up with her since 2010, prepare for a surprise.

Now a 31-year-old mum-of-two, Cher looks like she’s stepped straight out of The White Lotus, thanks to a new bob seemingly inspired by the HBO series. In a recent TikTok video, Cher unveils her new short hairstyle, a stark contrast to the ultra-long extensions she used to rock a decade ago. In fact, her Instagram feed reveals that she was still sporting her long locks until just last week when she opted for a bob, reports the Mirror.

Her specific cut is known as an ‘Italian bob’, characterised by tousled length and chin-skimming layers. Celebrity hairstylist Ricky Mota explains: “The Italian bob evokes classic Italian glamour, inspired by icons like supermodel Christy Turlington, Monica Bellucci, or modern interpretations seen on the runways. This style is versatile, working with various hair textures and can be styled sleek, tousled, or wavy. This cut looks stunning even with minimal styling, making it ideal for those seeking effortless beauty.”

He adds: “To maintain this style, you’ll need to get regular trims to keep the look fresh, and to care for it at home, you want to use a lightweight, hydrating shampoo and conditioner.”

Cher isn’t the only celeb to embrace the Italian bob trend. Since the second series of ‘The White Lotus’, fans have been swooning over Lucia’s stunning short cut. Portrayed by Italian star Simona Tabasco, who sports this chic bob off-screen too, celebs and viewers alike have been inspired to opt for the same chic trim.

Since then, A-listers like Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Selena Gomez, Lily Collins, and Pamela Anderson have all debut their own versions of the trendy cut.

How to style a bob at home Styling your Italian bob at home to give it a Monica Bellucci effect rather than a Lord Farquaad look is all about using the right tools. For bouncy body and those flawless flicked-under ends, a stellar heated styling brush is your best bet.

The ghd Rise Professional Hot Brush, currently priced at £134.25, offers double the volume compared to hair dried naturally and delivers enduring style. It’s also perfectly sized for adding lift at the roots as well as volumising the tips.

For your shower routine, you’ll want a shampoo and conditioner that cleanse and hydrate your hair without making it heavy and causing lengths to look lifeless. Ricky suggests Unite’s 7SECONDS Shampoo and 7SECONDS Conditioner, priced at £31 and £33 respectively. They might be on the pricey side, but they’re definitely worth the investment.

A top-notch heat protector is an essential part of any styling routine to avoid damage and dryness. The Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, costing £12.50, has received rave reviews for leaving hair in a silky condition. One customer even claimed it made their hair look as if it had just been styled at a salon.

Rollers are a straightforward solution for achieving a salon-style blow-dry without the need for heat. The Drybar High Tops rollers, priced at £10, grip on their own and are made from a gentle material to prevent hair pulling or snagging. They can be used with a hairdryer or simply placed on your fringe overnight for a voluminous, bouncy look.
