Disha Salian was depressed over father misusing her money: Cops in closure report

The Mumbai police concluded that Disha Salian died by suicide, citing financial and personal distress as contributing factors, according to a closure report submitted in February 2021. The report ruled out foul play and classified the case as an accidental death.

Disha Salian, a former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, allegedly jumped from the 12th floor of her building in Malad on June 8, 2020. Police recorded statements from friends and witnesses, who indicated that she was struggling with depression.

Investigators found that she had lost some work opportunities and had fallen out with two friends. Police also learned that her father, Satish Salian, had misused money she had saved and entrusted to him, spending it on a female friend. Sources told India Today that she was disturbed upon discovering this.

The Malvani police, which handled the case, recorded statements from actors Salian had been in contact with through her work. The case later became the subject of political debate, leading Mumbai police to form a Special Investigation Team. Its report is still pending.

Last week, Satish Salian filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh investigation into the circumstances of her death.
