Can a 19-year-old really make N20 million every week just by streaming on TikTok? That’s the big question after Nigerian TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, made this claim in a recent interview with Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, hosted by Ebuka.
How Does Peller Make His Money?Peller explained that his main source of income comes from TikTok Live sessions. He interacts with his audience, talks, and entertains them while receiving virtual gifts, which are later converted into money.
“If I am active on TikTok, in a week I can make up to N20 million or N15 million. But TikTok takes a percentage,” he said. He gave an example, explaining that if he makes $2,000, he might only be able to withdraw around $1,500 after TikTok takes its cut.
He also shared that he doesn’t go live every day because he doesn’t want people to get tired of seeing his face. Instead, he streams only three times a week. In one session alone, he once made $10,000 (about N13 million), which even shocked him.
Is it possible to make that much on TikTok?Peller’s success is part of the fast-growing creator economy in Africa. With nearly 8 million TikTok followers, he attracts a large audience, which helps boost his earnings. The creator economy in Africa is currently worth over $3 billion and is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years.
While it might sound unbelievable to some, big earnings from TikTok are possible, especially for influencers with millions of followers. Viewers send gifts, brands pay for promotions, and social media platforms share revenue with top creators.
However, not everyone can reach Peller’s level of success overnight. It takes consistency, strategy, and a strong audience connection.
