BIBLICAL REVIEW ON GOOD FROM
Biblical Background
What is Good Friday all about? To fully understand Good Friday and its relationship to Easter, it is important to look at what the Gospels say about the last days of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection. Using the Gospels, Christians have sketched out a rough timeline of the last few days of Jesus’s life, though the ambiguity of the text does make it difficult to know exactly which events took place on which days. Near the end of his life, Jesus had acquired his 12 apostles and many other followers. In the spring of the year of his death, he and his followers went to Jerusalem to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God.
In the Temple
After arriving in Jerusalem, Jesus visits the city’s major temple. While there, he is angered to find that people are using the temple as a space of commerce, with moneylenders working there. Furious, Jesus causes a commotion that turns many people against him. While some in Jerusalem were willing to convert to Christianity, many others were angry with Jesus for his message and actions.
Betrayal and Arrest
Shortly after the incident in the temple, Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus’s 12 apostles, betrays Jesus to the authorities in exchange for 30 pieces of silver. Jesus gathers his followers together to celebrate Passover, usually assumed to have taken place on a Thursday night. At the supper, Jesus informs his followers that he will soon be betrayed. Late that night, in the garden of Gethsemane, Judas arrives with authorities to arrest Jesus.

When is Good Friday?
When is Good Friday celebrated? Good Friday always takes place on the Friday before Easter Sunday, but Easter itself does not have a specific calendar date and it changes each year. The determination of the date of Easter is also different in Orthodox Christianity than in Catholicism and Protestantism because of different interpretations of the lunar calendar
