Eedris Abdulkareem slams INEC, current government in new protest song

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has sparked fresh conversations on social media with the release of his new politically charged track titled Ojoro INEC.

The song, which dropped on Friday, May 30, 2025, sees Abdulkareem openly criticising the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the electoral body of partiality and alleging it operates under the influence of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In Ojoro INEC, Eedris Abdulkareem questions several of INEC’s decisions, including its handling of permanent voter cards (PVC) and reluctance to embrace electronic voting. The outspoken rapper also accused the commission of aiding the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and using the judiciary to suppress the voice of ordinary Nigerians.

Lyrics from the track include: “E be like say INEC dey work for Tinubu, E be like say INEC dey work for APC, If na lie, why you go legalise voting without PVC? If na lie, why you no wan use electronic vote?”

Promoting the release on social media, Abdulkareem shared a clip from the song’s video, writing: “Eedris Abdulkareem’s latest single aptly titled ‘Ojoro INEC’, a song that x-rays INEC’s lame dependency on the current administration’s whims and its ‘errand boy’ status to the ruling party in Nigeria, officially drops today on all platforms by 12 AM.”

Ojoro INEC follows Abdulkareem’s earlier protest track Tell Your Papa, in which he urged Seyi Tinubu to relay the struggles of Nigerians to his father, President Tinubu. That song was subsequently banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

Known for his socially conscious music, Eedris Abdulkareem continues to use his voice to challenge political authorities and amplify the concerns of the masses.
