For Gos to hear you

DAY 19.      19/10/2024

TOPIC: FOR GOD TO HEAR YOU

TEXT: Isaiah 59:1 – 3.

Stormie Omartian in one of his books THE POWER OF A PRAYER LIFE declares thus “sin is deceiving. Sin tells you it’s okay to do what you’re doing. Sin tells you it’s not that bad, and besides, everybody else is doing it. Sin tells you it’s your life and you can do what you want. Sin in your life reveals your loyalties are.” (Omartian 2010, 86).

The above was heavily supported by prophet Isaiah chapter 59:1 – 3. If you abruptly violate the conditions for the fulfilment of God’s promises such cannot be actualized.

Sin is a rebel. It is an antagonist. It makes prayer to be rejected by God. For God to hear you, it is incumbent of you to adhere strictly to every God given instruction, otherwise, your voice will not receive the right attention and God will disregard your request. For God to hear, you must ready to pay the price, otherwise, don’t bother to pray. If you allow any sin to reside in your heart, God will not listen to your petition Psalm 66:18. Sin is a terrorist; infact sin is a cancer that grows silently and slowly until it finally destroys. Sin attacks joy. Sin is a terrorist. The sacrifices required by God before prayer can be heard is to live a holy life. Any unconfessed sin is dangerous, because, it hibernates for many years and at the end, it hatches disaster and calamities.

For God to hear you, remain faithful and run your life with His words. Keep trusting God and His word. When God directed Abraham to offer his only son Isaac as a burnt sacrifice, Abraham instantly yielded and significantly carried out the instruction without second option. As a result of that, God renewed and declared to him as found in the book of Genesis 25:15 – 17, Hebrews 11:8.

For God to hear you, there is need to exercise patient – this is one of the spiritual gifts – Galatians 5:22 – 24; Hebrews 6:13 – 14.

The word patience according to Greek means makrothumia, in Greek it makro and thumia; that is makro means “long” and thumia means “temper”. The word denotes lenience, forbearance, fortitude, patient and endurance. Having prayed and forwarded your request to God, you need to be patient, otherwise, you will arrange for God. Micah reminded us that we need to wait on God that is to be patient. Although the period of waiting is painful, not that alone, it takes the grace of God to wait. Be patient. Abraham waited for good twenty-five years before the fulfilment came. Hebrews 6:11 – 12. The patients are the ones who will inherit the promises.

There is an appointed time for the fulfilment Psalm 102:13; Genesis 18:14. We have seen many today who regarded God to be sluggish considering the fulfilment of promises, this prompted them to cut corners and at the end of the day, the whole thing boomerang.

Not everybody who prays or calls on God receives answers to prayer because of many pertinent reasons. Isaiah 58:9. God will not hear the wicked ones – Proverbs 15:29, only the prayers of the righteous that God will answer – Psalm 24; Proverbs 15:29b. Proverbs 1:28 who are the ones that God will not hear? The hands that are covered with blood God will never answer them, Isaiah 1:15. God personally prevented David not to build the Temple because his hand shed human blood 1st Chronicles 22:8.

When you did not pray according to the will of God, He will not answer John 5:14. Those who regarded iniquity in their heart and refused to forgive others their sins, God will not hear them but rather abundant shame will cover them – Psalm 66:18; John 9:31. God will never answer or respond to the prayer of sinners, but only the God fearing – James 5:16. Those who ask with wrong motives and intentions, – it is a common saying that “God will not judge our actions but motive. Any ulterior motive that will not glorify God, God will set aside the prayer request – James 4:3

Job 35:13 – God will not listen to those who oppressed the poor and make them to cry. The pride of evil man – that disregarded God and focus much attention on evil, God will not answer them..

Those who are not humble, God will not answer their prayers. The arrogant, pompous and stubborn – Proverbs 15:29; John 9:31. Those who practices evil – Micah 3:4, who disregard the poors and needy, who persecuted the widows and the fatherless. Who oppressed the poor and neglect the needy. God made it known without reservation that He will not hear them.

PRAYER:

1. Lord, help me to let go of my worries and anxieties and keep my gaze fixed on you.

2. May I trust in God guidance and protection.

3. Fear paralyzes, but when we focus on God, He can help overcome it.
