Ayo Gbeleyi, chief executive officer of Agil Travels & Tourism has backed President Bola Tinubu’s move to decentralise the Nigerian College of Aviation.
The President had on January 8, announced the splitting of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State, into six campuses across the country’s geo-political zones.
According to Gbeleyi, the move will transform the country’s Aviation sector by increasing access to quality training across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones.
He emphasised the importance of appointing individuals with relevant sector experience to leadership positions, rather than based on appointments.
The CEO applauded the establishment of a campus in Akure, Ondo State, as a brilliant move to spread development to other parts of the country.
He expressed optimism about the decentralization, stating it will equip Nigerians with aviation training and enhance the country’s development in the sector.
Responding to question on the effectiveness of the move, he stressed the need for experienced leaders in key positions.
Regarding the establishment of a campus in Akure, Gbeleyi acknowledged that Lagos is more developed but saw the move as an opportunity to spread development to other regions.
