Gareth Southgate has stepped down as England manager following the Three Lions defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024.Â
The 53-year-old’s resignation brings to an end an eight-year spell as England boss during which he reached two European Championship finals, plus a semi-final and quarter-final of the World Cup. The former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough defender managed 102 games for his country, fewer than only Walter Winterbottom and Sir Alf Ramsey, but now steps away from the job after something of a gruelling Euro 2024 campaign.Â
