For a man who stands on stage each week preaching patience, grace, and humility, Pastor Paul Adefarasin is racking up a troubling number of public incidents that look anything but Christian.
The latest? A violent, thuggish display in broad daylight on the streets of Lagos, an episode that not only left passengers injured but also allegedly saw the pastor brandishing a gun to intimidate a helpless bus driver.
Yes, you read that right. The same man who urges his congregation to “turn the other cheek” reportedly pulled out a firearm over a petty traffic dispute.
And this is not some rumour whispered in the shadows. Eyewitness accounts, videos, and viral posts have painted a picture that is now impossible to ignore.
The day Pastor Paul lost it in Lagos traffic
According to witnesses, it all began when a commercial bus driver tried to overtake Pastor Adefarasin’s car in heavy traffic, a completely normal occurrence on chaotic Lagos roads.
But instead of shrugging it off like any reasonable adult let alone a pastor, Adefarasin flew into a rage. He reportedly double-crossed the bus, boxed it in, jumped out of his car, and charged toward the bus in what one witness described as a “wild, weird craze.”
Not content with mere shouting, Adefarasin allegedly smashed the bus windows with his fists. Shattered glass sprayed into the cabin, injuring passengers sitting by the windows. One victim, a Muslim man expressed public outrage at the pastor’s violent, hypocritical behaviour.
But then, it got Worse – The Gun
As if that wasn’t shocking enough, witnesses report that Pastor Adefarasin then allegedly pulled out a gun in a clear attempt to threaten and intimidate the driver further.
A man who holds himself up as a spiritual leader, entrusted with guiding people toward peace and forgiveness, allegedly resorted to armed intimidation over a traffic squabble.
It’s the kind of scene one expects from gang members or hired thugs, not from a man of God.
Defending the Indefensible
Perhaps the most disgusting part of this entire spectacle is that Pastor Adefarasin reportedly showed no remorse. Eyewitnesses say he insisted he was right and left the scene with zero apology to the passengers he had injured and traumatised.
This isn’t just about bad temper. This is about a pattern of entitlement and bullying that makes many wonder: is this who Paul Adefarasin really is when the cameras aren’t rolling and the congregation isn’t watching?
Faith or Fraud?
As one disgusted victim put it, “How could a pastor behave this way?” It’s a question that cuts deep because when pastors act like this in public, they bring shame not just on themselves, but on the entire faith they claim to represent.
Each time we see these displays of gutter behavior violence, threats, guns, we are forced to ask whether these men are truly called to ministry or simply performing a carefully curated act on Sundays.
Will Anything Change?
So far, Paul Adefarasin has made no public statement about the incident. No apology. No explanation. Just silence as though hoping the controversy will fade.
But in an age of viral video and online outrage, silence no longer works. The internet remembers. The public remembers. And every unanswered scandal chips away at the pastor’s credibility and by extension, at the very institution of the church.
If Adefarasin continues down this path, more and more people will see through the fine face to the bully beneath and start questioning whether the man who preaches peace is simply too comfortable living in the gutter.
