“I am Igbo by blood,” Davido Responds to Tribal Comment

Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed a recent controversial social media comment questioning his connection to the Igbo community. In a firm reply, the singer affirmed his Igbo heritage.

The post, shared by user @Yakbel on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, warned Davido against associating closely with the Igbo, implying they might betray him. The user wrote:

Davido just dey carry Ibo full body, until when dem betray am before e rest, Yoruba boy dey frolick with Ibos in 2025, they want your head and everything you have to belong to them, you can never satisfy Ibos ooo, IBOs are not people you surround yourself with as a Yoruba man

Davido quickly shut down the divisive message, responding simply, “Lol, I AM IGBO by blood.”

His reply has drawn widespread praise from fans and commentators alike, applauding his rejection of ethnic division and his promotion of unity among Nigeria’s diverse groups.

Earlier in the week, Davido also hosted highlife legend Elder Bright Chimezie, acknowledging him as the inspiration behind a verse in his recent song, “With You.”
