‘I have blemish-prone skin and this is the only moisturiser I’ll use now’

‘I have blemish-prone skin and this is the only moisturiser I’ll use now’

A moisturiser is a crucial part of many people’s skincare regimen, but finding the perfect one can be a challenge; if it’s too light, it may not provide enough hydration for dry skin, and if it’s too heavy, it could potentially clog pores and trigger breakouts.

As a beauty editor, I’ve tested literally hundreds of face creams throughout my career, and honestly, I’ve found it difficult to discover ones that I genuinely adore and would repurchase; many cause my blemish-prone skin to flare up, while those with a water- or gel-like consistency aren’t sufficiently hydrating to adequately moisturise dry, flaky areas.

In fact, I often bypass moisturiser entirely, moving directly from serum to SPF. However, this Medik8 formula has been a complete revelation.

Pros Easily absorbed but still feels hydrating enough Doesn’t block pores Layers really well with other skincare products Leaves skin with a healthy glow Refillable, and refills cost less Cons Not the cheapest Products in pots aren’t as hygienic as tubes or push-up dispensers Medik8 is a brand adored by many – both consumers and skincare experts – and I highly rate several of its products, including Crystal Retinal and C-Tetra Luxe, but I hadn’t really sampled any of its moisturisers until I tried Medik8’s Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream, which retails at £45 for a 50ml tub and £40 for 50 refills.

Containing various weights of hyaluronic acid, a barrier-supporting prebiotic peptide, ceramides and lipids, Medik8’s clinical trials indicate that it provides 100 hours of moisturisation, with all testers agreeing their skin felt less dry and tight after use.

For me, it’s as close to a ‘perfect’ face cream as I’ve ever discovered. It’s nourishing yet non-greasy, eliminates dryness without causing spots, and leaves my skin looking fresher, plumper and healthier, an effect that lasts the entire day.

I genuinely believe all skin types can use and adore it – it has prompted me to reintroduce this skincare step into my routine, and my skin is significantly better for it.

Another face cream that I recently used up every last bit of is Skin Rocks The Moisturiser, priced at £58, although I’d suggest this one is slightly richer, and more suitable for normal-to-dry skin, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, for value, nothing much beats CeraVe Moisturising Lotion for Dry to Very Dry Skin, currently reduced from £12 to £9.38.
