“I Wanted To Drop Out”-Level Semester With 8 Fs

A final-year student from FUNAAB shared his academic struggles on social media.

His results included eight failed courses (Fs) and two distinctions (As).

A final-year student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has stirred conversation online after revealing his academic struggles from earlier in his university journey.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the student, identified as @meloadebanks_, shared a screenshot of his 100-level second semester results, which showed eight failed courses (Fs) and two distinctions (As). The post came as a response to a trending tweet about carryovers.

“A carryover ke? I carried the whole semester 😤. I had to resit for all!” he wrote, openly acknowledging that he failed nearly every course during that period.

When another user, @debowaleolusola, asked whether he had even taken the exams, he replied candidly: “Yes, I didn’t. I wanted to drop out. Was suicidal. I was dancing with the devil and messing with dangerous people.”

He further explained that the two As he received were from practical courses, which he did attend. However, he skipped his other exams due to personal struggles and a lack of interest at the time.

Looking back, the student revealed that he has since made significant progress. “I cleared all except four courses, which I dropped in 300 level and retook during the just concluded 500-level second semester. I’m now awaiting the results next week Thursday,” he added.
