Iran denies a ceasefire agreement with Israel, stating that it will cease its retaliatory attacks only if Israel ceases its “illegal aggression.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, contradicted US President Donald Trump’s claim of a ceasefire between the two countries, stating via his verified X account.
Iran has denied reaching any ceasefire agreement with Israel, stating that it will only consider halting its retaliatory strikes if Israel stops what it describes as “illegal aggression.”
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the declaration on Tuesday via his verified X account, directly refuting U.S. President Donald Trump’s earlier statement claiming that both nations had agreed to a ceasefire to end the ongoing 12-day conflict.
“As Iran has repeatedly made clear, Israel started this war, not Iran,” Araghchi stated. “At this moment, there is NO agreement on any ceasefire or halt to military operations.
He added, ”if the Israeli regime ends its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by 4 a.m. Tehran time, we will have no reason to continue our response. A final decision regarding the cessation of our military actions will be made subsequently,”
As of now, Israel has not made any official statement in response to Iran’s position or the reported ceasefire.
Since Israel launched its offensive on June 13, Iranian authorities claim that more than 400 people have been killed, including 13 children, and over 3,000 others injured. On the Israeli side, retaliatory strikes from Iran have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 24 people.
