Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has voiced her regret over advocating for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body amid the investigation into his untimely death.
During a recent appearance on the Talk to B Podcast, Iyabo Ojo shared that her initial push for exhumation was fueled by a desire for justice and to uncover the true cause of Mohbad’s death.
Reflecting on the prolonged and inconclusive investigation, she expressed regret over the decision.
“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way,” Ojo remarked.
“I just wanted an autopsy to be performed to determine the cause of his death. Despite our efforts, the focus shifted to different theories and DNA, complicating the process,” she explained.
Mohbad’s sudden death on September 12, 2023, sent shockwaves throughout Nigeria, sparking widespread demands for a thorough investigation.
His rapid burial in a small casket, just two days after his death, further fueled public outcry and speculation about the circumstances of his passing.
Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, explained the swift burial by noting that his son was young and was buried on the only property he owned.
The subsequent exhumation revealed that Mohbad had received injections from a practitioner, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, identified as a quack nurse.
.These injections, which included tetanus toxoid, paracetamol, and an antibiotic called Cetrazone, led to severe reactions such as vomiting, goosebumps, and convulsions, ultimately resulting in the singer’s death.
Despite being rushed to Perez Medcare Hospital, Mohbad was pronounced dead upon arrival. The hospital clarified that he did not pass away in their care, and all resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
The case has lingered nearly two years without a resolution, leaving Mohbad yet to be re-buried.
Iyabo Ojo, among other celebrities, has been vocal on social media, advocating for justice in a case that continues to evoke strong emotions and calls for clarity.
