JAMB Identifies 585 Fake A/Level Certificates in 2025 – Registrar Oloyede

In 2025, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) discovered 585 fake A/Level certificates. This was announced by the Board’s Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, during an online meeting aimed at preparing for the upcoming exams.

Professor Oloyede mentioned that these fake certificates are a big problem, which led to the creation of the Nigeria Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (NIPED) to help fight this issue.

He also noted that among the forgeries were 13 important certificates that allow students to enter universities at a higher level without the usual entrance exam.

These cases are now being looked into by the police, and four people connected to these fake certificates have been caught.

The investigation has also uncovered that some people within educational institutions are helping with these fraudulent activities. Additionally, Professor Oloyede raised concerns about some exam centers charging students for services that should be free, which could damage the trust in the admissions system.

He urged all JAMB staff to work honestly and keep a close watch to maintain the Board’s reputation.

In a report from last year, JAMB found 1,665 fake results during registration for university entry, with many coming from Colleges of Education and university diplomas. At Bayero University, Kano, only 6 out of 148 certificates were real, leading to stricter checks and more collaboration to stop these fraudulent practices.

JAMB has warned that if schools admit students with these fake results without checking them properly, they might be seen as part of the problem.
