1. THE SNAKE YOU FAILED TO KILL MAY KILL YOU

The Snake you refuse to kill may kill you because you are enemies from the beginning of the world. We can see that God told the Israelites to send away all the people across Jordan, and those that they refused to send out would be torn in their flesh. It is the same way Christians are warned to eradicate sins in their lives because it is deadly. Toiling with sin is very risky because we cannot be in sin and expect grace to abound. Sin is poisonous and all Christians regardless of the office or position and anyone who is nursing sin is playing with a snake. There are some characters that the Christian should do away with and failure to change such character will destroy good things because your character may make or mar you. Many marriages have been destroyed because of characters that ought to be dealt with before entering into such marriage, some parents pampered their children and failed to train them to be responsible, and such children become torn in their flesh. Some intended couples that fail to change their characters within the courtship period will end up struggling in marriage because it will be difficult to change characters after the wedding day. There are some people from whom you must separate yourself or else they will become thorns on your business, marriage, and ministry, remember until Abraham separated Lot from his life there was no great success. Till today the Israelites are still struggling with those they refused to send out.  So, if we refuse to do away with some things in our life especially sin, bad attitude, bad character, and lifestyle, we may end our lives in shambles and they may send us away from the heavenly race.

2. CORRECTIVE ROD MAKES WISE

Many people believe that correction is for children or students alone, but everybody can look back to correct the mistakes made in the past. The book of Proverbs writer says we should not withdraw the correction rod from our children. Jesus says anyone who does not emulate the character of children will not enter heaven. One of the characteristics of the children is being ready to take correction, but many believe that they are too big for correction. Anyone can be corrected, some use to choose someone to correct them; but anyone above correction is walking on the verge of falling. Your colleagues may not correct you, those above you did not believe that you made a mistake and those below you are afraid of you; who will correct you then? Unless you humble yourself for any loved ones among them to correct you. Your parents, wife, husband, and children will be ready to correct you if you’re ready to receive their rod,  but when you see yourself above them they will not tell you your mistake and people usually say that nobody is above mistake. Parents should take it upon themselves to use their corrective rod when their children are still young, for many of them feel above the rod after their teenage, especially after getting to University; that’s why many misbehave and pollute our society today.

3. . KNOWING GOD AND HIS POWER

In the book of Luke that was read above, we can see how the people in the town rejected Jesus and how the demon confessed Him as the Son of God. He declared Himself as the Messiah they’d been waiting for yet they were angry and rejected Him just because they speculated where the Messiah should come from, but those that had problems knew Him and they brought the sick people and all were healed. The question here is how did you know God and His power? Paul said that I may know him and the power of His resurrection (Phi. 3:10). People call Him the son of Joseph, but the evil spirit knows Him as the Son of God; did you know the Spirit of God Jehovah that is in Him and feel His anointing? He also asked the disciples who did people say I am? Knowing Him is very important because the situation of the world may not be better than this because the perilous time has come and many are swept away from God and some are confused about who to follow, some will be enticed by things of the world and fall away from the heavenly track. But those that know God shall be strong and stand with God in all seasons, the power shall be given to them to walk and not be weary and run and not faint and they will mount above all challenges of life and be rapturable when Christ comes.
