Latest update on the injury sustained by Barcelona’s defender Jules Kounde has emerged following the recent statement released by the club.
Barcelona’s Jules Kounde is set to miss the Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan due to a hamstring injury diagnosed on Thursday.
The French right-back had to leave the pitch during the intense 3-3 draw in the first leg on Wednesday. With the crucial return match scheduled for next Tuesday at the San Siro, Barcelona confirmed his injury in an official statement: “Tests carried out this morning have shown that first team player Jules Kounde has a hamstring injury in his left thigh.”
Although the club has not specified how long he will be out, his participation in the upcoming Clasico against Real Madrid in La Liga on May 11 is now in doubt. Additionally, he will not be available for Barcelona’s league encounter against Real Valladolid on Saturday.
Barcelona currently holds a four-point lead over their fierce rivals, Real Madrid, and remains in contention for a historic quadruple this season.
During the match against Inter Milan, Eric Garcia stepped in at right-back to cover for Kounde after his departure in the second half at the Olympic Stadium.
At 26 years old, Kounde has been a crucial player for Barcelona this season, featuring in 53 matches across all competitions. His absence could be a significant blow to the team as they continue their pursuit of silverware.
