In another kidnap for ransom case of targeting lecturers, some gun nuts shot a law professor dead, and ran off with eight more people.

Professor Yinka Olomojobi of the Faculty of Law at Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun, had resisted the kidnap attempt around 9 pm at an event centre in Sagamu on the weekend.

Kidnappers have been snatching lecturers and varsity students for ransom. The criminals lose it at times, and shoot their victims to make a statement.

Ogun police spokesman  Omolola Odutola said the assailants shot the scholar in the chest for resisting the abduction.

“Eye witnesses were able to count eight men dressed in black and armed with guns, emerging from an unknown place into the relaxing lounge, and opened fire indiscriminately,” the spokesman said.

One person, a security guard who just started work, became the prime suspect.
