Premier League champions Liverpool have reportedly agreed to a £40 million deal to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
The 21-year-old Hungary international is set to move to Anfield after two impressive seasons with the Cherries. Bournemouth, who have already signed Adrien Truffert from Rennes as Kerkez’s replacement, are prepared for the young defender’s departure.
Kerkez’s signing comes as Liverpool continue their summer rebuild, with a club-record £116 million move for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz also nearing completion. The Reds have already secured Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen for £29.5 million.
Born in Serbia, Kerkez began his senior career at Hungarian side Gyor before joining AC Milan. Although he didn’t make a first-team appearance for the Italian giants, he found success after moving to Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in January 2022.
He helped Alkmaar finish fourth in the Eredivisie in 2022–23, contributing five goals and seven assists in 52 appearances. The club also reached the Europa Conference League semi-finals that season.
Kerkez joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2023 while Liverpool’s current sporting director, Richard Hughes, was still working at the south coast club. The left-back went on to play every Premier League game last season, scoring twice and registering six assists as Bournemouth finished ninth with a club-record 56 points.
Capped 23 times by Hungary, Kerkez will join his international teammate Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool.
