Military confirms soldier was shot de@d by colleague in Katsina

The Defense Headquarters has confirmed that a naval officer at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dansadau, engaged in Operation FANSAN YAMMA, allegedly opened fire under questionable circumstances, resulting in the k!lling of a fellow serviceman. 

 

The incident occurred early Friday morning around 3:12 a.m. in Dansadau, Katsina State, according to Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defense Media Operations.

The accused officer, identified as Leading Seaman Akila A., was subsequently arrested, disarmed, and detained pending further investigation. According to Maj.-Gen. Buba, following the investigation, the case will be presented before a standing court martial, which handles such incidents involving military personnel.

 

“The administrative process of notifying the deceased’s family is underway, which is why we have not yet released the name to the public. It will, however, be disclosed soon,” Buba stated, urging media outlets to report the incident with caution to respect the family’s emotional well-being.
