As we head into the 18th season of the Indian Premier League, here’s a look at most successful captains – in terms of matches won.

MS Dhoni has won the most matches as captain in the IPL. he has won 133 out of 226 matches as captain of Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant

Rohit Sharma is second on the list with 87 wins in 158 matches as captain of Mumbai Indians.

Both MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have won five titles each, sharing the tag of most successful captain in the IPL. Both of them won’t lead in IPL 2025.

The former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper is third on the list. He has won two titles and a total of 71 matches in 129 as captain.

Virat Kohli is fourth on the list in terms of matches won. He has helped RCB win 66 out of 143 matches he led in the IPL.
