MTN Nigeria Plans 100% Tariff Hike on Calls, Data Services

MTN Nigeria is considering doubling the prices for calls and data services, as revealed by their CEO, Karl Toriola, in a recent interview on Arise TV. 

They have already suggested this price increase to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), but it’s not sure if it will be approved because of the tough economic situation in Nigeria.

The reason for this proposed increase is that the costs of running their services have gone up a lot. If these changes are not made, the company might struggle to keep operating. 

However, many people in Nigeria are worried because they are already dealing with high prices and inflation. They feel that higher costs for calls and data would make it even harder to afford these essential services.

The NCC hasn’t decided yet, but experts think they will try to balance the needs of the consumers with the financial needs of the telecom companies. 

In the coming weeks, it will be clear if the price increase will happen or if it will be turned down because of public opposition.
