NAPTIP Summons Speed Darlington Over Alleged Child Abuse

NAPTIP has summoned Nigerian artist Speed Darlington.

The summons requires him to appear at NAPTIP headquarters in Abuja.

He must report by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has issued a formal summons to Nigerian artist Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, requiring his presence at its headquarters in Abuja.

The agency instructed the singer to report without exception by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025.

This action follows a widely circulated Instagram Live video, during which Speed Darlington allegedly made statements implying involvement in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

NAPTIP expressed grave concern over the content of the video, noting that the allegations are serious and merit thorough investigation.

In a letter dated May 28, 2025, the agency noted that if verified, the singer’s statements could represent a violation of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition), Enforcement and Administration Act of 2015.

The matter may also involve infractions under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act of 2015.
