Ottawa Fire Services battled for about 30 minutes overnight to put out a fire in an apartment building on the 600 block of St. Patrick Street in Lowertown.

Several 911 messages were received at around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday to report a fire in a fourth-floor unit.

Crews arriving at the site confirmed flames were visible and called for additional resources to the scene.

Firefighters declared the blaze under control at about 12:19 a.m. Wednesday.

No residents were caught inside and there were no reports of injuries.

Ottawa Fire Services dispatched an investigator to the scene to determine how the fire started.
