Oxlade condemns Benue State killings

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, popularly known as Oxlade, has joined the growing chorus of voices condemning the recent mass killings in Benue State.

The singer took to his official X page on Monday, June 16, 2025, to express his outrage and sorrow over the tragic events.

In his heartfelt post, Oxlade stressed the need for urgent, collective action to address the violence. “The killings in Benue cannot keep being met with silence. These are lives lost, families broken, and futures stolen. Nigeria, how many more? This is a national emergency that we all must partake in,” he tweeted, adding a broken heart emoji and the hashtags #StopTheKillings and #PrayForBenue.

His message follows reports of a deadly attack between Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Yelwata, Benue State, where over 200 people were allegedly killed by suspected armed herders. The incident, which left entire families dead and victims reportedly burned alive, has drawn widespread condemnation from both public figures and civil society.

Oxlade now joins a growing list of Nigerian entertainers, including 2Baba, MI Abaga, and Portable, who have used their platforms to react to the killings, amplify the call for justice and urgent government intervention in Benue State.
