Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi on Wednesday joined top opposition figures at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for a media briefing by the newly formed coalition adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
The coalition includes members of the Labour Party, PDP, SDP, and other parties. Notable attendees were Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Dino Melaye, Dele Momodu, and David Mark, who has been named interim ADC chairman. Rauf Aregbesola was appointed interim national secretary.
Meanwhile Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar hosted Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at his Abuja residence on Wednesday, July 2, fueling speculation of a united opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting came just a day after the Coalition for a Better Nigeria adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official platform.
Obi has backed the coalition, expressing support for collective efforts to drive national progress.
In other news….. Veteran journalist and PDP chieftain Dele Momodu has slammed the APC over alleged attempts to stop hotels from hosting the ADC coalition’s planned declaration event.
Reacting to claims shared by media personality Rita Ebiuwa that hotels were being threatened, “APC is jittery. Threatening hotels not to allow their facilities to be used for today’s ADC adoption is ridiculous.”
Momodu questioned the APC’s confidence, asking why the party fears a coalition it once dismissed as “dead on arrival.”
“Why are they worried about a coalition they boasted is ‘dead on arrival’…? Many of their supporters have privately told me they’re truly scandalized by the shenanigans of their overzealous members.”
