The Kano State Police Command has banned all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr celebrations in the state, citing security concerns and the need to maintain public order.
Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the state commissioner of Police, revealed this during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters on Friday, emphasising the need for a peaceful and secure environment during the festivities.
According to CP Bakori, intelligence reports indicated plans by certain elements to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities.

“Following credible intelligence reports of orchestrated plans by miscreants and their sponsors to use the Durbar for violent acts, the Command, in consultation with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, has decided to prohibit all Durbar activities across the state,” he stated.
He assured residents that adequate security measures had been put in place to safeguard Eid prayers at designated locations. He also urged worshippers to comply with security guidelines, including avoiding suspicious objects and refraining from activities such as horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.
Parents and guardians were advised to caution their children against being used by subversive elements.
“As we celebrate, let us remember that peace is paramount. We must put aside our differences and work together as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” CP Bakori urged.
The police further called for continued cooperation with security agencies and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities.

The decision follows an earlier announcement by the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who stated that he had halted plans for the Sallah Durbar in the interest of peace.
Ado Bayero had previously requested police protection for Sallah activities, but concerns over potential unrest arose, especially as the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, had also begun preparations for the festivities following a directive from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
