PSA: You can now buy a sky blue USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable for your MacBook

The new generation MacBook Air with the M4 chip comes in a new “sky blue” color, and in keeping with tradition, the laptop comes with a traced charging cable that matches the color chosen by the consumer. However, even if you have no plans to buy the new M4 MacBook Air, you can still get a sky blue USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable.

Apple’s USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable now available in a new color

The new sky blue cable was added to Apple’s online store shortly after the launch of the M4 MacBook Air this morning. Although Apple sells it as a replacement in case you lose or damage the cable that ships in the box with your Mac, some people like to buy a new charging cable in a different color to create new combinations.

The same USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable can be used not only with the M2 MacBook Air and later, but also with Apple Silicon MacBook Pro’s that feature the MagSafe port (M1 Pro and later).

Unlike midnight, which is considerably darker, sky blue is a much lighter shade of blue. Apple describes the new color as a “beautiful, metallic light blue that creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off of its surface.” The first real-world photos of the new M4 MacBook Air in sky blue show that the blue color is quite subtle, even looking grayish depending on the light.

Apple’s USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable is 2 meters long and costs $49. In addition to sky blue, the cable is also available in space gray, midnight, starlight, black, and white. It’s worth noting that the cable doesn’t come with a power adapter, so you’ll need to use your own.
