Outgoing OC Transpo general manager Renée Amilcar was named Wednesday the president and chief executive officer of a new Quebec government transportation agency.

The appointment was announced by Geneviève Guibault, the province’s deputy premier and minister of transport and sustainable mobility, who also appointed Ann MacDonald as chair of the board of directors of the new agency called Mobilité Infra Québec.

The Quebec government said the agency’s mission would be to analyze, plan and implement complex transportation projects, including those involving public transit.

Amilcar’s departure from OC Transpo was announced by Ottawa’s city manager on Tuesday. It takes effect July 18.

She and MacDonald will assume their new positions on Sept. 2.

Amilcar has been with OC Transpo since 2021 after previously serving for 19 years with the Société de transport de Montréal, that city’s public transportation organization.

She will be succeeded as general manager on an interim basis by Troy Charter, the City of Ottawa’s director of transit service and rail operations.
