Ruth Kadiri, Kiekie, Others Get Their Flowers as YouTube Celebrates Nigerian Creators

In a celebration of creativity, culture, and consistency, YouTube has shone a well-deserved spotlight on some of Nigeria’s most influential female creators including beloved actress Ruth Kadiri and the ever-vibrant skit maker and fashionista, Kiekie. 

The recognition comes as part of the video-sharing platform’s 20th anniversary, a milestone moment that reflects not just two decades of video content, but also the global impact of creators who use the platform to tell authentic stories.

For Nigerian content creators especially women, this acknowledgment signals more than just a pat on the back. It’s a recognition of how far the creative scene has come, and the unique voices that are helping shape what Africa means to the world, online and off.

Among the four Nigerian women celebrated were:

Ruth Kadiri, whose YouTube channel has become a hub for compelling Nollywood stories. With a talent for storytelling and a commitment to showcasing everyday Nigerian life through film, Kadiri has built a loyal audience who trust her to deliver powerful narratives that reflect real emotions.

Kiekie, a multi-talented entertainer known for her hilarious skits, stylish edge, and relatable commentary on modern life. Whether she’s making audiences laugh with her satirical takes or slaying a new fashion look, Kiekie’s content is as engaging as it is original.

Also honoured were Ify Mogekwu, the culinary creator behind Ify’s Kitchen, known for putting Nigerian food on the global map, and Korty, a bold voice among Gen Z who uses interviews and storytelling to spark conversations about identity, freedom, and authenticity.

Ruth Kadiri, visibly moved by the honour, took to Instagram to express her gratitude. “To be named one of the top female YouTubers in Nigeria is something I never imagined when I first started sharing my passion for movie making with the world,” she wrote. 

“What began as a simple desire to tell stories has grown into something far beyond my expectations. I’m deeply grateful to God for the grace, the gift, and the growth.”

Her message resonated with fans and fellow filmmakers alike, many of whom flooded her page with congratulatory messages. For many, her journey, from screen actress to a YouTube force has been a source of inspiration.
